I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know Him better. Ephesians 1:17 NIV
This is a series on feelings. It may not clearly be evident at first, because you want see the word “feelings” very often. You certainly won’t see it in the beginning Scripture. When I began studying for and praying about this series, I considered using that word, but when I went to God’s Word, it simply wasn’t there. In my search I found that “Feeling” or “feelings” appears a grand total of four times in the Bible.
But, I do want to talk about feelings. Feelings are an important part of life. The way I feel determines many times what I do in a day. If I wake up and don’t “feel” well that day, I may not complete some of the tasks I had originally planned to do. Feelings sometimes destroy relationships, especially if we rely on them as being valuable in determining the strength of a relationship. I have witnessed marriages fall apart, because one party doesn’t “feel” love in the marriage any longer.
I want to explore for the next few days how our feelings, or lack thereof, should impact our walk with Christ. For today, let me ask you to consider; how do you feel about your relationship to Christ today? What words would you use to describe the feelings you have about Christ? How do you think God feels about you?
We’ll answer those questions this week.
