I may not see in front of me, But I can see for miles around when I look over my shoulder, and Lord, it`s clear. You`ve brought me here, So faithful every step of the way. What can I do but follow you, For You are the Way, the Truth, the Life, And You`ve promised never to leave me, My Savior, my friend, From beginning to end.

I Am Found In You by Steven Curtis Chapman
WEALTH
By: Ron Edmondson Friday, March 20, 1998
But remember the LORD your God, for it is He who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms His covenant, whic He swore to your forefathers, as it is today. Deuteronomy 8:18 NIV

We live in a blessed nation. The media for the last few years has been full of the good news of the economy. We have watched the Dow Jones go higher than ever imagined. Inflation has stayed relatively low. Unemployment is down. Personal income is up. Disposable income has also increased. From a checkbook standpoint, at least according to statistics (and I realize they aren't always fair), we are better off financially than we have ever been before.

With all the "good news", I thought it might be time to remember something: It all belongs to God! God is the one who has given us the ability to produce wealth. He ordained the currency system we now have. God said it was okay to have a government and to participate in commerce. God is the owner of all things and it is by His grace if we have anything.

I once heard the story of a old, grumpy rich man who went to church one Sunday to listen to the new preacher. Fresh out of seminary, the young man of God preached his very first sermon on the fact that God owns it all. The next day the old man called the preacher and asked him to come for a visit.

When the preacher arrived the old man took him out in the middle of a field he owned. "Heard your sermon yesterday. You see this land?", the old man asked. "I own all of it, as far as you can see. Look around, there is over 10,000 acres. Don't owe anybody for it. It's all mine, free and clear."

The young preacher thought for a minute and said, "Okay, let's meet back here 100 years from now and we'll settle this issue once and for all."

You see, you may have wealth, you may have abilities, you may have good looks, but God will out last you every time. God is the Alpha and Omega! The First and the Last! He doesn't exist in our limited realm of time and space. God is bigger than all that!

Yet, in spite of this fact, He still cares intimately for you; even to the point of death!

And better yet, if you are a child of God, your included in the will!
