I may not see in front of me, But I can see for miles around when I look over my shoulder, and Lord, it`s clear. You`ve brought me here, So faithful every step of the way. What can I do but follow you, For You are the Way, the Truth, the Life, And You`ve promised never to leave me, My Savior, my friend, From beginning to end.
I Am Found In You

He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. Micah 6:8 NIV
Prior to this verse, the prophet Micah had just asked a series of rhetorical questions, each seeking the same response to: what can you give God? What can you give to the one who has it all? (What an appropriate and well known question following the Christmas season!) What can you give to the one who created the Heavens and the Earth? What can you give to the giver of all good things?
Oh no, my friend, you can give God nothing He can't create for Himself, but God has made out for you His wish list. And what is it that the Lord requires? First is to act justly. Do what is right! Follow the ten commandments as your guide. Read His word and discover His desire for your life. Learn the commands of Jesus; to love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and mind and to love your neighbor as your self. Be fair to your fellow man. Be a man (or woman) of integrity.
Second, love mercy. Love the mercy that God has given you (you know without His mercy you would be doomed to Hell), and love to give mercy. No doubt you will be wronged many times this year; in the supermarket, at the red light, in the workplace, in your home, and even in the church. Forgive others just as you, yourself, have been forgiven. Give mercy to the degree that it has been given to you, and believe me, that is a lot of mercy!
Finally, walk humbly with your God. To do this, He must first BE YOUR God. Is He? Then you must, by faith, seek forgiveness of your sins so that He will become your strolling companion. If you will look at Genesis 3:8, God had a habit of walking with Adam and Eve. Sin seperated them from that immediate, close relationship with the Father. Jesus made a way to restore that relationship at the cross. Humble yourself today and allow Him to walk with you again!
I want you to have a great year! It really isn't difficult when you will follow His commands. He has told you what is good.
