I saw a television show the other day. The characters were high powered, wealthy business people from New York City. They lived a fast life full of greed. Nearly each one had an affair going on the side.
I know what you're thinking. This is just an average show on TV today.
The part that intrigued me the most was that each individual had a weekend home; a retreat several miles outside the city. This was where they would attempt to escape from the hustle and bustle of big city life.
The whole scene reminded me of this verse, and really offered me a reminder: My weekend retreat is in my relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.
For the Christian, in the middle of the difficulties of life, you and I have an oasis from the storm. We have a place where we can find quietness and confidence forever.
We may not have the stock portfolio, the penthouse apartment, and the country home equipped with servants and a swimming pool just used on days off, but we have a future that is fully secure in the hands of our Master. Our retirement program is fully vested. And, we have a mansion waiting for us in Gloryland!
Our escape is found in Jesus!
