I may not see in front of me, But I can see for miles around when I look over my shoulder, and Lord, it`s clear. You`ve brought me here, So faithful every step of the way. What can I do but follow you, For You are the Way, the Truth, the Life, And You`ve promised never to leave me, My Savior, my friend, From beginning to end.
I Am Found In You

"You are a king, then!" said Pilate. Jesus answered, "You are right in saying I am a king. In fact, for this reason I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me." John 18:37 NIV
Feelings are fickle. Have you noticed? Sometimes I feel good. Sometimes I feel bad. Feelings aren’t always based upon the truth. I may feel inadequate at a task and yet be fully qualified for the job. Almost everytime I go to teach or preach, for example, a feeling comes upon me which causes me to doubt my sense of worth. I often feel unprepared, even if I have studied for hours. That isn’t necessarily truth, but that is the way I feel.
Jesus was before Pilate. Pilate was acting on behalf of the Jews. He knew the political pressure was upon him to do something with Jesus. When Pilate asked Jesus about being a king, I wonder if he thought Jesus might change His story. I wonder if Pilate expected a confession from Jesus that He had been living a lie. Instead, Jesus assured Pilate that He was the truth. Jesus is a king. In fact, He is the King of kings.
Do you believe by fact or by feeling that Jesus is who He says He is? Is it matter of truth in your life or a matter of uncertainty? Jesus didn’t waffle on His answer to Pilate. In fact, He couldn’t, because Jesus is Truth. Everything Jesus is and everything He says is truth, because Jesus in His very nature is Truth. He certainly can never tell a lie.
In order for you to mature in your faith, you must replace feelings with fact. There are certainly great feelings associated with loving Jesus, but our belief in Him should not be based on how we “feel” about Jesus, but about what we “know” about Jesus. Jesus is God’s Son, One of the Trinity, and He is the Savior, the Way, the Truth, and the Life…and no man comes to the Father but through this Person of Truth.
Let me close today with another verse of Scripture. “God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of the fact.” Acts 2:32 NIV
