So I will always remind you of these things, even though you know them and are firmly established in the truth you now have. 2 Peter 1:12 NIV
Sometimes we have to be reminded of the truth. We have been talking about feelings this week. Have you caught on to the fact that feelings are sometimes unpredictable? How would our children make it in the world if we only fed them when we “felt” like it? What would they experience if they only got a diaper change when the “feeling” came over us to change it? (Talk about smelly!) Feelings are fickle! Facts are faithful!
God’s love for you is not based on a feeling, it is based on the fact that God is love. He doesn’t wake up one morning and decide He doesn’t love you anymore. God’s offer of forgiveness is not conditional upon the mood of the day. He forgives when we seek forgiveness because He is a God of grace and mercy.
Have you been living by feeling instead of fact? Have you been trusting more in your feelings than in the truths of God’s Word? Do you need to be reminded that “He who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it”? Would it help you to know again that “all things work together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose”?
Don’t trust your feelings, they will let you down. Trust in the Truth of God’s Word. (This is exactly why you should be reading the Bible everyday.) God will never disappoint you! That is a fact!
