I may not see in front of me, But I can see for miles around when I look over my shoulder, and Lord, it`s clear. You`ve brought me here, So faithful every step of the way. What can I do but follow you, For You are the Way, the Truth, the Life, And You`ve promised never to leave me, My Savior, my friend, From beginning to end.

I Am Found In You by Steven Curtis Chapman
The Shepherd
By: Ron Edmondson Wednesday, January 14, 1998
The Lord is my shepherd. I shall not be in want. Psalm 23:1 NIV

If indeed the Lord is your shepherd, then your wanter has been fixed.

Huh, you say? What are you trying to teach us Ron?

Well, if you have chosen to make Jesus the Lord of your life, not just your Saviour, but your Lord, then you have chosen Him to be your Shepherd. The good shepherd sees to the needs of His sheep so that your needs are met, and all you have to do is wait on Him. Answer me truthfully, if all your needs (emphasize needs) were met, and if God were providing the desires of your heart, because your desires match His, would you really have any wants?

David was a good shepherd. Now, bear with me animal lovers, but I want to contend, after many discussions with shepherds, that sheep are basically dumb animals. Actually, not basically, they are dumb. They just are. (Don't get mad at me. I like sheep, but they are just dumb.) One thing sheep can do though is abide. Once they are comfortable with their shepherd, they will trust in him completely. In fact, without the shepherd many times they would starve to death, because they are waiting on him to provide.

The good shepherd has taken away the need to want. He has provided food, shelter, a warm place to lay down at night, protection from enemies, peace and tranquility, and anything else needed to have happy, content sheep. The good shepherd takes care of his flock.

Jesus is our good shepherd! Jesus is sitting at the right hand of the Father, interceeding on our behalf. He came, bled and died so that we might have life more abundantly. He doesn't want us worrying over what we shall eat or how we will pay our bills or when our children will ever come home. He has provided for all our needs and wants us to trust Him completely for the rest.

THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD! I SHALL NOT BE IN WANT!

Be dumb today! Have dumb faith today! Simply trust Him! Even when the world and your own sense would tell you to try things on your own, simply trust Him....simply trust Him!

Be dumb today! Let the Shepherd lead you!
