I may not see in front of me, But I can see for miles around when I look over my shoulder, and Lord, it`s clear. You`ve brought me here, So faithful every step of the way. What can I do but follow you, For You are the Way, the Truth, the Life, And You`ve promised never to leave me, My Savior, my friend, From beginning to end.
I Am Found In You

So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was earnestly praying to God for him. Acts 12:5 NIV
Do you know what happens next in this story from Biblical history? Peter escapes! In fact, Peter, bound with two chains, sleeping between two soldiers, and with sentries guarding the entrance to the cell, is miraculously released from prison. Angels break him out with a flash of light Hollywood will never be able to repeat!
Luck? Chance happening? Absolutely not! God was responding to the prayers of His people. Afterall, where two or more are gathered, there He will be!
I am fully and completely convinced that Acts 12:5 is in the Bible by no accident. Luke, the author, intentionally tells us about the church earnestly praying. You know why? Because prayer works! The angels came and released Peter, because the church was on their knees before the Lord!
Do you know what I find more amazing than the prison breakout? That when Peter arrives back at the church, the people are surprised he is there! (See Acts 12:15) No, it wasn't that they lacked faith. That's why they were praying in the first place. It just that they were surprised just how wonderfully their prayers had been answered. They were overwhelmed at having practically experienced the Living God!
I don't know about you, but I'm ready to be surprised! As we earnestly seek you in prayer, overwhelm us! Surprise us! Do a miracle in our midst! Let us experience the Living God as you do a great work in our midst!
Even so, Come LORD JESUS!
