A fifteen year old boy in the community in which I live was just convicted of second degree murder for the death of another young boy. Having stated that he felt "revenge" over some negative comments made, the situation appeared to arise because several boys combined made up the "wrong crowd". The boys were searching for fun and entertainment on a boring Friday night, and now two young lives, and countless others, have been stained forever.
The violence involving our youth makes national headlines on a daily basis it seems. What is causing such tragedy in our society? Is it caused by the economy, the political structure, or by over population?
I don't think so! The problem that plagues any society is usually sin. We live in a fallen world. God's perfect "Garden of Eden" creation, was corrupted by the selfishness and desire for greatness of man. Through Adam, all men are condemned; all are born into sin. The penalty for sin is death, and we are witnesses each day to the death of our society.
Is there a solution? I think there is! Jesus Christ, the One and Only Savior, the Prince of Peace and Lord of lords, came that He might bring His Light to a dark and dying world. The Only God of creation has given us the promise of restoration through the gift of grace found only in the shed blood of Jesus.
The hope for our society will not be found in policies or political activity, it will not even be found in charitable organizations or humane efforts of mankind. The only hope for a fallen world is the hope found in the love of the God who created us and in the love of His Son Jesus.
It is time that we all turn to God! There is no other!
