Delight yourself in the Lord!
Shopping is not necessarily my favorite way to spend a Saturday. My wife is not a marathon shopper, but sometimes, especially if we have nothing else to do, she likes to hit the malls. I could probably opt out without too much trouble, but most of the time I go. I go not for the shopping, but because I delight in my wife. I like her to be happy. I like to spend time with her. I like her to be able to do the things she enjoys. My delight in her motivates how I spend my time.
When we delight ourselves in the Lord we will take on those desires which make Him happy. We will choose the activities, which result in His praise. We will begin to appreciate the things God appreciates. We begin to be concerned about giving pleasure to our Heavenly Father.
Can I ask you a question? Think about your life over the past week. If Jesus were to live it with you, would it have been a week He would have enjoyed? When we delight in the Lord, we give Him pleasure. Is your life pleasing Him today?
