I may not see in front of me, But I can see for miles around when I look over my shoulder, and Lord, it`s clear. You`ve brought me here, So faithful every step of the way. What can I do but follow you, For You are the Way, the Truth, the Life, And You`ve promised never to leave me, My Savior, my friend, From beginning to end.

I Am Found In You by Steven Curtis Chapman
That's Okay, I'll Just Wait
By: Ron Edmondson Wednesday, January 05, 2000
I say to myself, "The LORD is my portion; therefore I will wait for Him." Lamentations 3:24 NIV

We are well into the first week of a new year, actually a new century. Have I shared with you my theme verse for the year? Here it is: The LORD is my portion; therefore I will wait for Him.

I look around at the world today and I see lots of options. I see men who think nothing of cheating on their wives; and there are plenty of women ready to participate. I see couples living their lives as if they had no children; filling their time with the things of the world. I see people caught up in personal achievements, whether it be through meeting career goals, growing the bank accounts, or buying the latest "things".

The gods of this world seem to be all the things we can acquire, the titles we can gain, and the personal achievements we can place on our resumes. If it can be bought or sold, we tend to give it a great deal of value. Those who are "less fortunate" in our society are those who have "less" in terms of money, power, or fame.

As I move into a new period of my life and as I reflect on the year behind, there are a few changes I would like to implement in my life. One deals with my attitude about position. You see, there is a part of me that could easily get caught in the "get all I can" mindset that is so prevalent in the world today. Even in my church I could allow pride to motivate my actions, seeking recognition for the work that I do.

I don't want to get trapped into depending on this world for my strength and support. When difficulty comes my way, and it surely will, I want to help to come from the Maker of my soul; the Architect of my creation-who knitted me together in my mother's womb.

In 2000, I want God to be my portion! No thanks, you can have all this world, I'll just wait on the Lord!
