I may not see in front of me, But I can see for miles around when I look over my shoulder, and Lord, it`s clear. You`ve brought me here, So faithful every step of the way. What can I do but follow you, For You are the Way, the Truth, the Life, And You`ve promised never to leave me, My Savior, my friend, From beginning to end.
I Am Found In You

After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go. He told them, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. Luke 10:1-2 NIV
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about spirituality. Actually that’s something I think about a lot all the time, but lately my thoughts have centered more about the lack of spirituality than the presence of spirituality. As a church planter who tries to stay in touch with the culture so I can reach people in it, I am finding that the culture is changing fast and I’m not sure the church is keeping pace.
Before you throw stones my way, I realize that the Word of God never changes. Truth is not relative. The things of God are not true for one person and false for another. God’s truth is truth; whether or not it’s accepted as being so. What I’m referring to is the way the church reaches an ever-changing culture. I’m not sure we are keeping up with that change as fast as it is changing.
Growing up in a very conservative, church-going, Bible-believing family in the middle of the Bible belt, I am realizing (I’m in my mid-forties; it’s about time!) that I may have lived a somewhat sheltered existence. Everything around me, usually by choice, has a Christian basis. It’s a comforting environment. I love fellow believers, but I’m finding it makes it hard to reach people I never encounter.
God is stretching me out of my comfort zone. I suspect there are some people He wants me to meet who don’t have my “Christian” understanding. Cool point: I’m finding I can actually like them also!
