I may not see in front of me, But I can see for miles around when I look over my shoulder, and Lord, it`s clear. You`ve brought me here, So faithful every step of the way. What can I do but follow you, For You are the Way, the Truth, the Life, And You`ve promised never to leave me, My Savior, my friend, From beginning to end.

I Am Found In You by Steven Curtis Chapman
Stretching Five

“When you enter a town and are welcomed, eat what is set before you. Heal the sick who are there and tell them, 'The kingdom of God is near you.' But when you enter a town and are not welcomed, go into its streets and say, 'Even the dust of your town that sticks to our feet we wipe off against you. Yet be sure of this: The kingdom of God is near.'” Luke 10:8-12 NIV

During this series I’ve been stretching my own mind again concerning how we reach people with the Gospel who don’t want to be reached. I’m learning we do that by building relationships with them first, sharing truth when they are willing to hear. I think the process begins best when peace is offered first; not rules and regulations; or the punishment received by not following the rules.

I’ll end this series, however, where I started. There is a truth. That truth is Jesus Christ. When we’ve built a relationship, or we have shared God’s love with peace first, and we are rejected, we aren’t to compromise our truth in order to win them over. Thankfully we are living in a culture that values honesty. People outside Christianity today seem less likely to dismiss our Christian beliefs if we share them honestly, sincerely, and lovingly. They don’t want us to change our beliefs, even if they don’t want to change theirs. They want Christianity that’s real enough to stick even when it’s rejected. I’m learning that kind of conviction is actually a much valued trait in today’s culture.

Our culture is changing fast. Our never-changing Gospel is still this culture’s answer. We must find ways to reach today’s world with this truth.
