I may not see in front of me, But I can see for miles around when I look over my shoulder, and Lord, it`s clear. You`ve brought me here, So faithful every step of the way. What can I do but follow you, For You are the Way, the Truth, the Life, And You`ve promised never to leave me, My Savior, my friend, From beginning to end.

I Am Found In You by Steven Curtis Chapman
Storm Story, Part 5
By: Ron Edmondson Monday, February 02, 2004
A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped.

Mark 4:37 NIV

Furious: Violent anger or dissatisfaction.

Squall: Violent, sudden storm.

Furious Squall: Violent, violent, sudden storm.

Ever heard of over-kill? This is a double usage of the word violent. This sea was an area prone to violent and sudden storms. These disciples were no doubt familiar with the sea and it's storms. This was not an ordinary storm. This was a furious squall. It seemed to come from no where.

Are you like me? Do the furious squalls in your life seem to come from no where? Do they hit you when you least expect them? Oh, I can see some things coming, but still a really big storm usually catches me unprepared.

I don’t know if God allows the unexpected because it keeps us on our toes or because we would be basket cases if we could watch the big storms brewing in our future, but one thing I do know. The furious squalls don’t catch God off guard. He sees them coming and He already has a plan of how to calm them.

Since furious squalls come on us without warning, we need to be prepared all the time. Someone once said all of us are either going through a storm, have just been through a storm, or are about to go through a storm. So, how do we do stay prepared? We hide ourselves in the Cross of Jesus everyday. We trust not on our own abilities, but on the sufficiency of Christ. We find ourselves reading His Word more everyday and praying in all occasions. We increase our focus and praise of our Creator.

Are you prepared for the furious squalls? God help us be prepared by getting to know You now!
