I may not see in front of me, But I can see for miles around when I look over my shoulder, and Lord, it`s clear. You`ve brought me here, So faithful every step of the way. What can I do but follow you, For You are the Way, the Truth, the Life, And You`ve promised never to leave me, My Savior, my friend, From beginning to end.

I Am Found In You by Steven Curtis Chapman
Storm Story, Part 2
By: Ron Edmondson Wednesday, January 28, 2004
That day when evening came, He said to His disciples, "Let us go over to the other side." Mark 4:35 NIV

Are you remembering that Jesus had a calculated purpose for everything He did during His time on earth? When Jesus led His disciples to the “other side”, there was more to it than just a midnight ride!

There was work to be done on the other side of the lake, which we read about later in Scripture, but I believe Jesus had an even greater purpose in mind. Jesus knew that there were principles about God that these disciples needed to learn. Jesus knew that this occasion would provide the best opportunity for them to learn those principles. Jesus wanted the disciples to go to the “other side” in their Christian walk.

The “other side” is where we know and trust God more and we are more willing to surrender and obey the ways of God completely. Jesus is calling believers today to go to the “other side” in their Christian experience and walk in a closer, more surrendered relationship with Him. There is great work to be done for the Kingdom of God, but first we must get to the “other side”.

I don't want to be the bearer of what may seem like bad news (it really isn't, because it's God-news). In order to get us to the "other side" in our Christ walk, God will most often take us through some storms. We usually grow closer to God through the storms of life than we do from the mountain top experiences.

May I ask you a question? Are you ready to go to the “other side” in your Christian life? Are you willing to set every desire and agenda of your own aside and simply trust and obey God? Are you willing to pray right now and say, “Yes, Lord! I’m yours and I’ll do whatever it takes to get to where you want me to be, even if it involves a storm or two”? That’s a scary prayer, but it releases God to the hidden places of your life and allows Him to take you to the “other side”.

The real rest and peace that God intended for His children is found on the “other side”.
