I may not see in front of me, But I can see for miles around when I look over my shoulder, and Lord, it`s clear. You`ve brought me here, So faithful every step of the way. What can I do but follow you, For You are the Way, the Truth, the Life, And You`ve promised never to leave me, My Savior, my friend, From beginning to end.

I Am Found In You by Steven Curtis Chapman
Religion
By: Ron Edmondson Thursday, January 22, 1998
Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. James 1:27 NIV

What is your "religion"? Hopefully, if you are reading this, your choice religion is Christianity. Religion is defined as your faith or devotion to an ideal or cause. (at least according to Webster) I define religion, for me personally, as my fervent devotion to Jesus Christ.

Am I a "religious" person? Am I a part of the "religious" movement? Will I be called a "religious" zealot? I don't know, only history will tell, but I do know this: I am a Christian! I am a follower of Christ.

Regardless of how you define religion, make no mistake about it, the only religion God approves of is your passionate approach to His son Jesus. The book of James is written to believers, and James, in the verse for today, is calling you to check your "religion". Does it stand the test of time? Are you living up to the name of your "religion"? Are you a true Christian?

We need true Christianity today! We need strong determination to do the will of God. We need to exhibit our faith through our good deeds. The world needs to see that Christ, working through us, is real; that it does make a difference to be a follower of Christ.

As we witness others giving millions, even billions, to good causes (and some not so good) we must evaluate how effective we are in spreading the gospel of Christ. Jesus said they will know you are my followers by your good deeds.

Let me ask you: How are we doing?
