Because of my chains, most of the brothers in the Lord have been encouraged to speak the word of God more courageously and fearlessly. Philippians 1:14 NIV
If other Christians had not seen Paul’s courage in prison, they might not have spoken out for the gospel where they lived and worked. Isn’t it motivating to see others living victoriously for Christ? When Christians saw Paul singing the hymns of the faith even though he was chained to the wall in a cold prison cell, they had a renewed hope and determination to carry out the gospel.
The company I once owned had a huge job which was behind schedule. We had men that were working countless overtime trying to complete the job on time. About half way through the project I sensed the men getting discouraged. I went home, changed into some work clothes, and went to work doing the labor they were doing. I didn’t really know how, but it seemed to motivate them to work harder when they saw I was willing to as well.
You may be going through a trial right now which seems unique. Its probably not. Others have most likely experienced similar pain. Those who have not may at some point in their life. The way you and I react to our struggles will have a direct affect on others. They will either see us clinging to the hope in Christ, or they will sense that He is not worth clinging to.
Based on where you are today, what perception of God are you giving those around you?
