I may not see in front of me, But I can see for miles around when I look over my shoulder, and Lord, it`s clear. You`ve brought me here, So faithful every step of the way. What can I do but follow you, For You are the Way, the Truth, the Life, And You`ve promised never to leave me, My Savior, my friend, From beginning to end.

I Am Found In You by Steven Curtis Chapman
Once Strengthened
By: Ron Edmondson Wednesday, February 23, 2000
At once the Spirit sent Him out into the desert, and He was in the desert forty days, being tempted by Satan. He was with the wild animals, and angels attended Him. Mark 1:12-13 NIV

Jesus had just been baptized. He had just received the praise of His Father, God: "This is my Son whom I love and am well pleased." The man Jesus was on a spiritual high in His earthly life. Ever been there?

I have personally had times where God was more real to me than ever before. There have been seasons of my life when I knew God more intimately; sought after Him more passionately; and experienced Him more deeply than any other days. It is these needed times where my faith rests and I am strengthened for the days ahead.

And, the days ahead will always come. It has been my experience in the Christian life that times of great spiritual passion are soon followed by periods of spiritual doubt and temptation. After the mountain top experience, the valley is almost sure to follow.

It was true in the life of Jesus. Right after His baptism, a spiritual high, He was immediately sent into the wilderness. If God wants to mold us into the image of His Son (and He does), then He will surely allow the same to happen to us.

Look forward to the mountain tops, but if you are growing in Christ, also get ready for the valley.
