I may not see in front of me, But I can see for miles around when I look over my shoulder, and Lord, it`s clear. You`ve brought me here, So faithful every step of the way. What can I do but follow you, For You are the Way, the Truth, the Life, And You`ve promised never to leave me, My Savior, my friend, From beginning to end.

I Am Found In You by Steven Curtis Chapman
Never Boast
By: Ron Edmondson Friday, October 10, 1997
May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. Galatians 6:14 NIV

I have never boasted about anything. I am one of the most humble people you will ever meet. I can impress you with my spirituality. I am a most fascinating person. I have contributed greatly to the cause of Christ. People should revere my name. I am greatly respected and loved by all around. I am soooo special! (and don't you just love perfect people like me?)

Now I know you believe all of that, right? Sure I have boasted, and I just lied when I said I never have. (Forgive me God.) All joking aside though, when I examine my heart, many times, I am more like the above paragraph than I am like the verse at the top of the page. My heart is sometimes filled with envy, greed, pride, self-confidence, arrogance, and anger. And, that is just scratching the surface.

What about you? (Please don't let me hang out here by myself.) Do you, like me, sometimes feel the closer you get to God, the further from being like Christ you seem to be?

Join me today in admitting to God that there is absolutely nothing upon which you can boast except for the cross of Jesus Christ. Without that you and I are nothing. We were lost, helpless, without hope and then, God, caring far more for us than we could ever imagine, took it upon Himself to make a way for us to receive eternal life. Jesus Christ, God's only Son, came to this wicked world, was beaten, bruised and hung on a cross to die. He rose on the third day paying once and for all for our penalty for sin for all those who believe in Him and call on His name.

The God who created the Universe and everything in it, loved you enough to send His Son to fight all of Hell so that you and I could enjoy and eternity without tears, pain, or worry.

Can you brag about that?

Then do!
