I may not see in front of me, But I can see for miles around when I look over my shoulder, and Lord, it`s clear. You`ve brought me here, So faithful every step of the way. What can I do but follow you, For You are the Way, the Truth, the Life, And You`ve promised never to leave me, My Savior, my friend, From beginning to end.

I Am Found In You by Steven Curtis Chapman
My All in All
By: Ron Edmondson Thursday, January 17, 2002
Formerly, when you did not know God, you were slaves to those who by nature are not gods. Galatians 4:8 NIV

Who or what determines your path in life? Is it your family, your friends, your employer, or your hobby or career? With whom would you say you have the closest relationship?

I know a dear family. They are as close as any family I know. They care for each other, and they go out of their way to spend time together. I’m impressed by that. Still, there is something about this family that has always concerned me. They are lost when it comes to knowing their Creator, God. They have no Savior. And, as close as they are to each other, sometimes, if you aren’t “in the family”, they won’t even give you the time of day.

With a personal relationship to Christ, He begins to direct your steps each day. He is the One you will rely on to shape your viewpoint, to plan your path in life, and to develop your earthly relationships. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying when you become a Christian that you leave your family. No, that would be contrary to the rest of Scriptures, but didn’t Jesus say “Who is my mother? Who is my brother?”? Jesus will begin to shape your relationships in such a way that He begins to take first place in your life; above every other relationship!

Jesus wants to be closer to you than your parents ever were. He wants to be closer than a brother or sister; a husband or wife; yes, even your own children! Do you view your relationship to Christ with that kind of importance? I can tell you that He does!

Jesus wants to be your God “big G”, not your god “little g”! He wants to be your all in all! Is He?
