Godly men buried Stephen and mourned deeply for him.
Acts 8:2 NIV
One final thought on mourning. I hope you have seen that mourning was a Biblical term for the assigned period of healing of the heart after a serious set of circumstances. People mourned over the loss of a loved one, either to death or separation. They mourned over sin, both individually and collectively. Most importantly, mourning was a time to allow God to fill the empty places of a person’s heart.
In a discussion about mourning, I couldn’t help but reflect on the life of Stephen. Today’s verse tells us that Godly men mourned deeply for him. I think they must have seen in Stephen something they admired greatly. He was worthy of the time of mourning.
One question for you. Who will be the Godly men who will mourn for you? Are you living your life in such a way? Will you provoke a real time of mourning because of the lack of your presence here on this earth?
Oh, may our lives, and the absence of our physical bodies, bring revival to the hearts of those lives we have touched along our journey on earth as they reflect on the impact we had!
