I may not see in front of me, But I can see for miles around when I look over my shoulder, and Lord, it`s clear. You`ve brought me here, So faithful every step of the way. What can I do but follow you, For You are the Way, the Truth, the Life, And You`ve promised never to leave me, My Savior, my friend, From beginning to end.

I Am Found In You by Steven Curtis Chapman

So he got up and went to his father. "But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him. Luke 15:20 NIV

Several years ago I preached a sermon on the Prodigal Son just before I went to Brazil. I had no idea that sermon was actually written for my time in Brazil.

We went to visit in the home of a girl named Luciana. She was a pretty young lady, with a great smile. Her mother had invited us to talk with Luciana, asking her to commit her life fully to Christ. Luciana had plenty of objections. She enjoyed her life of sin. The wild parties and drinking were activities she enjoyed. She wasn’t ready to give them up yet. We pleaded with her for several minutes, but I could tell we weren’t progressing.

Suddenly the Lord spoke quietly to my heart. I told my translator and those with us that we needed to leave. I had been struggling with what God wanted me to preach about that night, and suddenly He whispered to me that I was to use the sermon on the Prodigal Son. I told Luciana that we were going to leave. I told her that I had a sermon God had prepared in my heart just for her. I told her I wasn’t going to pressure her, but I hoped she would pray about coming to church that night.

When we arrived at church, Luciana was already there. When the music started, Luciana started to cry. She was crying when I started preaching. At the invitation, I asked, “Who is the first person God is calling tonight to come home to Him?” Luciana was the first person down the aisle. She didn’t just come to the altar, she came up on the platform, fell on her face, and called out to the Lord. She was ready to do business with God.

Are you ready to come home to God? Have you been living the half-hearted life for too long, and you want to be restored into a right relationship with your Father? Why not do like my friend Luciana in Brazil? Come home today. Come home quickly. Fall on your face before God and ask Him to come into your heart, and fill it to the fullest!

Just as God accepted Luciana, God will accept you!
