I may not see in front of me, But I can see for miles around when I look over my shoulder, and Lord, it`s clear. You`ve brought me here, So faithful every step of the way. What can I do but follow you, For You are the Way, the Truth, the Life, And You`ve promised never to leave me, My Savior, my friend, From beginning to end.

I will wait for the LORD, who is hiding His face from the house of Jacob. I will put my trust in Him. Isaiah 8:17 NIV

I was so privileged to have my wife with me some of the weeks I was in Brazil. She is such a helpmate to me and I feel something missing if she is not by my side when I minister. One year she was working in the eye clinic, and one afternoon, she and the eye doctor, a good friend of ours, got to go on a couple of home visits with me.

We couldn't find the first home. In this very poor slum area, the home numbers usually make no sense. The narrow, uneven streets are lined with one house after another, and it appears people just pick their house number. If you want to be number 3, that's the number you paint on the side of the house. We got to a house we thought was correct, but it wasn't.

We asked the lady who met us at the door if we could come in and talk to her. She agreed. It was a modest house, clean, but very sparsely furnished. I quickly told her we would not take too much of her time, but that we had come all the way from the United States, just to tell people like her about the love of Jesus.

Immediately she put her hands to her face and started to cry. This made Cheryl and our doctor friend start to tear up as well, which didn't help me keep my composure. (It was the perfect first visit for them.) Apparently, she had been wanting to know more about Jesus, but no one had ever come to tell her before. She readily accepted the Truth of the Gospel, according to God's Word.

She reminded me of Helen Keller, the famous deaf and blind person from years ago. When someone found a way to communicate with her about the love of Jesus, she exclaimed "That's who He is! I always knew Him, but I didn't know His name."

God had been calling our friend in Brazil, and it was our pleasure to introduce her to His Son! Who do you know that needs that introduction?
