I may not see in front of me, But I can see for miles around when I look over my shoulder, and Lord, it`s clear. You`ve brought me here, So faithful every step of the way. What can I do but follow you, For You are the Way, the Truth, the Life, And You`ve promised never to leave me, My Savior, my friend, From beginning to end.

I Am Found In You by Steven Curtis Chapman
Luke 11, Part 1
By: Ron Edmondson Monday, February 05, 2007
And as He spoke, a certain Pharisee asked Him to dine with him. So He went in and sat down to eat. When the Pharisee saw it, he marveled that He had not first washed before dinner. Luke 11:37 – 38 NKJV

The Pharisee probably had an ulterior motive for inviting Jesus to his house. Pharisees always do. Pharisees, even modern day Pharisees, are always trying to catch people doing something wrong. They have their own list of “rules”, some of them Biblically based, some created in their own minds, but they expect everyone to “behave” according to these rules. No doubt these Pharisees hoped to catch Jesus “breaking” one of the rules.

What I find interesting is that Jesus apparently had His own plan. I don’t know why He didn’t wash before dinner. Jesus certainly always obeyed God. He would never have disobeyed a law flippantly or because He didn’t care to obey. There was surely not an ignorance of the law on Jesus’ part. Jesus knew the law better than the Pharisees would have. Jesus must have been up to something Himself. I think He was testing the heart of these religious leaders. (God still tests hearts today.)

I want to look at what Jesus found in these Pharisees over the next few days. Can I ask you a question to ponder? When Jesus tests your heart, what does He find? What is the truest part of your heart? Is it to please your own self with your own set of standards, rules and regulations? Or, is it your heart to please God, regardless of what that may mean to you or to those around you?

What does Jesus find when He “dines” with you?

Tell your friends about this ministry. Why not forward a copy of the email to those you think might benefit from reading a Mustard Seed? Some churches use it as a supplement to their discipleship program. Perhaps your church would be interested in doing this. All I ask is that credit be given to the ministry.
