I may not see in front of me, But I can see for miles around when I look over my shoulder, and Lord, it`s clear. You`ve brought me here, So faithful every step of the way. What can I do but follow you, For You are the Way, the Truth, the Life, And You`ve promised never to leave me, My Savior, my friend, From beginning to end.

I Am Found In You by Steven Curtis Chapman
John 14:20, Part 3
By: Ron Edmondson Wednesday, February 11, 2004
On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. John 14:20 NIV

Jesus told His disciples “I am in my Father”. Dear friends, there is no greater truth than the truth of the Trinity. Three persons: God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit. Three persons, but one God. I don’t fully understand that concept, but it is true, because God’s Word says that it is. Someone once said, “Try to understand the Trinity and you’ll lose your mind. Try to deny the Trinity and you’ll lose your soul.” Jesus was always “in” His Father.

It may help to recognize the fact that God is a Spirit being. This is not meant to be mystical, but it is outside the realm of our complete understanding. We are physical beings who have a spirit.

Jesus always obeyed His Father. He did only what His Father told Him to do. The reason Jesus stayed so close to His Father was not just out of obedience, even though Jesus did obey, but also because God lived within Jesus, and Jesus within God. They shared the same Spirit of God. Jesus never went anywhere without the Father.

This may be one of those facts about God where we will simply have to accept by faith. We may have to say, “God, I don’t understand all the truths of the Trinity, but I believe them, because you said they are true.” We can thank God for the truths that we can’t understand, because that gives Him more glory, because He can. The Trinity makes perfect sense in the mind of God.

Thank you Lord for the Trinity and for the things that we can’t fully understand, but we can accept by faith, because ultimate Truth is in You.
