I may not see in front of me, But I can see for miles around when I look over my shoulder, and Lord, it`s clear. You`ve brought me here, So faithful every step of the way. What can I do but follow you, For You are the Way, the Truth, the Life, And You`ve promised never to leave me, My Savior, my friend, From beginning to end.

I Am Found In You by Steven Curtis Chapman
John-Like, 3
By: Ron Edmondson Wednesday, August 06, 2008
The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is preached to the poor. Matthew 11:5 NIV

In other words, “the work you were preparing, John, continues even today. Lives are changing and you were a major part of that happening.”

Jesus’ reply to John the Baptist wasn’t what he might have expected. John was in prison for doing exactly what God had told him to do. He was doing the same work as Christ. He simply wanted to know if Jesus was coming to help him, since Jesus was clearly helping so many others. Jesus really doesn’t answer John’s question, except to reassure John that the plan to share Jesus with others was still going strong.

Do you sometimes fail to get the answer you are looking for from God? You ask for one thing and He gives you something totally different, really without much explanation. You are counting on God to relieve you of a situation, but instead you seem to get deeper into the problems of the situation. And, sometimes, you hear nothing.

You and I need to remember that God’s ways are not our ways. Sometimes His plans don’t coincide with what we feel is the right answer to our problem. God is looking at our life from a heavenly perspective, not through time, but through eternity. His sovereignty assures us ultimate victory, since He is working all things for good in our life. In the meantime, our role is to trust that God is who He says He is and that He is still working a perfect plan.
