I may not see in front of me, But I can see for miles around when I look over my shoulder, and Lord, it`s clear. You`ve brought me here, So faithful every step of the way. What can I do but follow you, For You are the Way, the Truth, the Life, And You`ve promised never to leave me, My Savior, my friend, From beginning to end.

I Am Found In You by Steven Curtis Chapman
John-Like, 1
By: Ron Edmondson Monday, August 04, 2008
When John heard in prison what Christ was doing, he sent his disciples to ask Him, "Are you the one who was to come, or should we expect someone else?" Matthew 11:2-3 NIV

What kind of question is that to ask Jesus? Are you the one, or should we expect someone else? Of course Jesus is the One! He is the only One! He is the way, the truth, and the life. He is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. He is the great Jehovah God to whom one day every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord! He is our Savior and King! Absolutely He is the One...and so much more even than that!

Still, it should be easy for most of us to identify with John the Baptist. Locked in prison for testifying for his faith, he knew his fate on earth was not good. His days were numbered. He had invested his entire life in serving the Lord. He had given up the comforts of home and subjected himself to public ridicule, all because he was committed to the cause of Christ. He landed in jail for Jesus and heard that Jesus was still active in ministry, doing great miracles, but John had been forgotten....at least it must have seemed that way.

Do you ever feel like God is not in the equation of your life? Ever feel that everyone else is getting the miracles, and all you get is the left-over blessings? Ever wonder what’s next for you?

Those are all common emotions. I’m thankful God didn’t strike John the Baptist from His love. I’m thankful He doesn’t strike us either when we doubt or question Him. God is a big God. He understands and welcomes your doubts. Take them to the Lord.

I’m also thankful, that in spite of the times when God is silent, and the times I can’t understand what He is doing, I can still know that God is in control. I may not always feel that truth, but because He is God, I can have assurance that His plan will prevail and His will for my life will work for an ultimate goal.
