I may not see in front of me, But I can see for miles around when I look over my shoulder, and Lord, it`s clear. You`ve brought me here, So faithful every step of the way. What can I do but follow you, For You are the Way, the Truth, the Life, And You`ve promised never to leave me, My Savior, my friend, From beginning to end.
I Am Found In You

When He had finished praying, Jesus left with His disciples and crossed the Kidron Valley. On the other side there was an olive grove, and He and His disciples went into it. Now Judas, who betrayed Him, knew the place, because Jesus had often met there with His disciples. So Judas came to the grove, guiding a detachment of soldiers and some officials from the chief priests and Pharisees. They were carrying torches, lanterns and weapons. Jesus, knowing all that was going to happen to Him, went out and asked them, "Who is it you want?" John 18:1-4 NIV
These four verses will be our focal passage for this Mustard Seed series. Catching you up with where we are in Scripture, Jesus and the disciples have recently left the Lord’s Supper, went for a long walk, and have gone into the Garden of Gethsemane. Along the way to the garden, Jesus had been teaching the disciples, preparing them for His departure.
During this time intense time, Jesus powerfully delivers some of His strongest words. He claims to be the “way, the truth and the life” and says that “no one comes to the Father except through Me.” Never had anyone been so bold. Jesus tells the disciples they must learn to abide in Him, because apart from Him they would be able to do nothing. Jesus promises to send the Comforter and teaches how the Holy Spirit will impact the lives of believers. He promises them that the world will hate them, as it has hated Him, and that they will experience trials, but they didn’t have to be afraid, because Jesus had already overcome the world. Just before entering the garden, Jesus prays for Himself, His disciples, and all believers.
That’s a lot to accomplish in a day. Jesus was probably tired, yet, we know that Jesus doesn’t rest. Instead He goes to the Garden for more prayer. What do you do when you are at your weakest? If you’re like me you just want to crash, but if we want to be like Jesus, we will learn that during the toughest times of life are when we must practice prayer the most. Jesus needed physical strength for the journey ahead and He found it through prayer.
Lord, in our darkest days, remind us to find our strength in You!
