I may not see in front of me, But I can see for miles around when I look over my shoulder, and Lord, it`s clear. You`ve brought me here, So faithful every step of the way. What can I do but follow you, For You are the Way, the Truth, the Life, And You`ve promised never to leave me, My Savior, my friend, From beginning to end.

I Am Found In You by Steven Curtis Chapman
Imitation
By: Ron Edmondson Wednesday, March 15, 2000
Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith. Hebrews 13:7 NIV

I grew up in the church. Someone recently described their situation growing up as similar to mine. They said the had a drug problem. They were drug to church on Sunday morning, Sunday night and Wednesday night. We were in church whenever the doors were open. Still, when I got to college I wandered from my devotion to Christ. I never denounced Him, but I certainly wasn't a growing Christian.

I was about 24 years old when my pastor began to challenge me. He was a powerful, deep-hearted preacher of the word of God. As many of my toes as he stomped on, one might have expected me to skip church even more, but there was a sincerity in his preaching that I just couldn't miss. I found myself once again with a drug problem, only this time I was dragging myself to church. Pastor Dennis challenged me to commit myself to deeper spiritual growth. I wanted to imitate his faith in Christ.

Have you ever had such an inspiration? Is there someone in your life who helped you grow as a Christian? Is there one individual, or several, in whom you could see Christ working and it made you want to be like them? Maybe it was a pastor or teacher, or even some Christian you never even knew.

Dear friend, if you can think of someone, I want you to do me a favor. Let them know! Tell them what a blessing they were/are in your life. Your encouragement may be just what they need to keep telling the Good News.

Then, if you really want to honor them, invest in someone else's life, like they invested in yours. Become a spiritual role model yourself. Disciple another Christian. That is what building the Kingdom of God is all about; each one, reaches another, and together we all become more like Christ.
