I may not see in front of me, But I can see for miles around when I look over my shoulder, and Lord, it`s clear. You`ve brought me here, So faithful every step of the way. What can I do but follow you, For You are the Way, the Truth, the Life, And You`ve promised never to leave me, My Savior, my friend, From beginning to end.

I Am Found In You by Steven Curtis Chapman

But, "Let him who boasts boast in the Lord. " For it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends. 2 Corinthians 10:17-18 NIV

"Daddy, did you ever want to be famous?"

That was the question I received from my 8 year old son recently. It was an honest question requiring an honest answer. As a normal, healthy little boy, my son has often watched the superstar basketball players or the touchdown catching football heroes and wondered what it would be like to achieve their success. I heard him running down the halls of our house, ball in hand, pretending to be the next Peyton Manning (we live in Tennessee you know!).

There is nothing wrong with wanting to be successful in life. I don't think it is healthy to desire to fail. But, as I studied my child's question, I realized my answer needed to be one which would help him to grow spiritually.

I told him how my goal at one time was to be the President of the United States. I shared with him how I had thought I might like to be the CEO of a major Fortune 500 company, and be chauffered to and from work each day. I also told him how I had even once thought I might become a famous movie star.

Those dreams are now gone, I told my son. They are gone mostly because the practicality of them has long ago passed. Now my goals are much smaller as the world goes, but my aim is so much higher. I have set my sights on nothing less than seeing Jesus face to face, and being found in Him!

My ambition in life now is to commit my life to growing in the grace and knowledge of my Lord and Savior, and so one day to attain the rewards of being eternally in the presence of the Almighty God. I want to spend time with my Creator.

Famous? Yes, I want to be famous! I want to be one of the chosen; the redeemed; one of the precious ones whose name is written in the Book of Life!

How about you, did you ever want to be famous?
