Godliness leads to love for other Christians, and finally you will grow to have genuine love for everyone. 2 Peter 1:7 NLT
As I type this it is the Christmas season. I realize this series will most likely appear in the new year, but today I’m still thinking about Christmas and the celebration of God’s gift of grace to the world. Jesus gave grace a whole new understanding. Jesus’ brand of love was unlike anything the world had ever seen. Jesus loved the unlovable. Jesus extended grace to people who didn’t deserve grace.
As you and I grow to know God better and take on the characteristics of Christ, we will grow to have a “Jesus kind” of love for other people. That love may cause us to forgive someone who has hurt us. It may cause us to release the anger we have for someone else. We may have to give up our pride in order to love as Jesus loves. As difficult as this process will be it is all a part of becoming more holy; looking more like God.
Examine your love life for a moment. Are you loving those who are easy to love and leaving the others for someone else to love? Can you love those who have harmed you? Is there anyone in your life that “love” could not be used to describe your emotions towards them? As the Christian grows in holiness we will learn more and more to love EVERYONE!
