Knowing God leads to self-control. Self-control leads to patient endurance, and patient endurance leads to godliness. 2 Peter 1:6 NLT
The more you know God the more holy your life will be. That sounds like an overly simplistic approach to obtaining righteousness, but it really is true. Knowing God involves, first a relationship with God. That relationship begins with a saving belief in Jesus Christ. After we are saved, God begins the process of making us more like Jesus Christ. That is His end result for the Christian (Romans 8:29).
The Christian is never going to be content in life unless he or she is growing on the path towards Christ-likeness. Nothing in all the world will satisfy the Christian like spiritual growth. When a Christian learns more of God, the characteristics of God become a part of that person.
I have loved watching young Christians grow over the years. I have watched as they first accept Christ, get excited about spiritual growth, and then continue to be molded into Christ’s image. Over time it is clear to see the stamp of God’s holiness on their life. Old habits begin to die. New habits begin to form. The person literally will transform from sin traits to righteous traits. It’s an amazing process. (I’m seeing it still in my own life.)
If you want to really grow as a Christian, then get to know God!
