I may not see in front of me, But I can see for miles around when I look over my shoulder, and Lord, it`s clear. You`ve brought me here, So faithful every step of the way. What can I do but follow you, For You are the Way, the Truth, the Life, And You`ve promised never to leave me, My Savior, my friend, From beginning to end.

I Am Found In You by Steven Curtis Chapman
Holiness, Part 2

He has called us to receive his own glory and goodness! 2 Peter 1:3b NLT

This is such a neat verse. God has “called us to receive His own glory and goodness”! Isn’t that cool?

I don’t know if you’ve read the accounts of God’s glory in the Bible, but God’s glory is awesome! God’s glory caused Moses to hide his face. God’s glory forced Isaiah to fall on his face. God’s glory was too powerful for men to touch. One man touched the glory of God and instantly He died! God’s glory is huge!

Surely I don’t have to expand on God’s goodness. God is so good that made a way for people deserving eternal death to receive eternal life. He gave up His only Son to pay the penalty for wicked sinners. He certainly sounds good to me!

God has “called” means that He has caused it to happen. God has set in to place a system whereby you and I, the children of God, will become more and more a reflection of His glory and goodness. This is not an option for the person who has chosen Jesus Christ as Savior. We can choose to resist, which we often do, but the system is still in place and God is still going to work in our life to bring about His glory and goodness in us. Often times the reason we have no real peace in life is because we are living in that resistance.

The greatest method to peace in life is to submit to God’s agenda. God wants us to be holy. He has called us to be receive His glory and goodness. His glory and goodness cannot exist where there is sin. We must, therefore, rid our life of sin more and more each day and strive to be holy.
