I may not see in front of me, But I can see for miles around when I look over my shoulder, and Lord, it`s clear. You`ve brought me here, So faithful every step of the way. What can I do but follow you, For You are the Way, the Truth, the Life, And You`ve promised never to leave me, My Savior, my friend, From beginning to end.

I Am Found In You by Steven Curtis Chapman
His Flock
By: Ron Edmondson Thursday, January 09, 2003
For He is our God and we are the people of His pasture, the flock under His care. Psalm 95:7 NIV

Imagine with me for a moment. (Come on....you can do it) Let me take you back a few centuries. Let's go back to a place and time where life was a bit slower.

David is watching over his sheep. It is pleasant outside. The stars are shining bright on a cool, crisp Bethlehem night. The sheep are resting now. It has been a long day.

Early in the morning, before the sun came up good, David had to fight off a lion who had tried to kill a sheep. Using his sling and a few stones, David drove the lion far from the herd. The sheep never knew they were in danger.

David searched hard for water. He had to use his staff to dig out a shallow pond where the sheep would drink. Sheep never have liked running water.

The grass was a little too tall and the sheep wouldn't eat. David forced their heads down into the grass so they could taste the fresh greens below. The sheep ate until they were satisfied.

By mid-day the sun was scorching hot. David knew it would burn his tender sheep, so he found a resting place along side a mountaintop where his flock could rest.

In the late afternoon, as David led his sheep back home, one of the sheep disappeared. David quickly took out to search for it. When he found it, he placed the sheep gently under his arm and carried it back to safety.

David arrived home. Another day was over. Not one sheep was lost. Not one sheep thanked David for his work, but that was okay. Tomorrow would be another day.

We are the sheep. God is the shepherd. Now do you see why David was a man after God's own heart?

Are you?
