Because you rage against me and your insolence has reached my ears, I will put my hook in your nose and my bit in your mouth, and I will make you return by the way you came.' 2 Kings 19:28 NIV
The people had rebelled against God and God was not happy about it. Can you tell?
We sometimes need to be retold that sin has consequences. God does not promise to remove the consequences of our sins or our bad decisions. Sometimes, being a loving God, He does, but He doesn’t promise to. God is also a God of justice. He has established His righteousness as the standard.
I recently saw a sign on a fence post of a farm which read: “If you are going to trespass, you should be able to cross this field in 9.9 seconds. Our bull can make it in 10!” Many times we think our sins will not cause anyone harm, as long as no one else knows about them, failing to realize that the One who matters the most has full knowledge of them. Our guilt is not hidden from God.
Thankfully, God is a forgiving, patient God. If we come to Him with a repentive heart, He forgives and restores us into a right relationship with Him. Are you living with sin in your heart that you have so far refused to let go? Why not let the God who knows, and who cares, remove the guilt from your life before the consequences overtake you?
