I may not see in front of me, But I can see for miles around when I look over my shoulder, and Lord, it`s clear. You`ve brought me here, So faithful every step of the way. What can I do but follow you, For You are the Way, the Truth, the Life, And You`ve promised never to leave me, My Savior, my friend, From beginning to end.

I Am Found In You by Steven Curtis Chapman
He IS Sovereign
By: Ron Edmondson Thursday, January 11, 2001
"Tell us what we should say to Him; we cannot draw up our case because of our darkness. Should He be told that I want to speak? Would any man ask to be swallowed up?" Job 37:19-20 NIV

Elihu was Job's friend. In his counsel to Job, he makes some very valid points. Those points are equally valid for you and me today.

Perhaps you have been questioning God lately? Maybe life has been throwing you some situations you don't quite understand? You may have encountered some trials beyond your ability to handle? There may be something in your life right now, that, even though you have tried everything, doesn't seem to be getting any better?

I don't know your circumstances, but I do know that God is Sovereign. He plans the steps for His mankind. There is nothing in your life right now, if you are a Christian, that God has not first allowed. If you consider God's servant Job, even the Devil had to receive permission from God to send trials in his life. Dear child of God, you are under God's providential care.

Since that is true, it is clear that God has allowed the situation you are struggling with right now. While the Bible is does establish that God sends discipline in the life of Christians at times, sometimes, adversity comes to us so that God can cause us to call on Him more; and so He can shape us into the image of His Son. You may be living a righteous life and still face trials in your Christian life.

Regardless of the reason why you are facing this trial, can you really question God? How will you present your case before Him? What would you say to the One who created the stars and the moon; the One who has marked off the seasons, and tells lightning bolts when to strike? Would you care to confront the Maker of the sea? Are you prepared to defend your case before the Ruler of the animal kingdom? How will you speak to the One who has counted the grains of sand at the ocean? Just wondering....

The fact is that you cannot mount a defense against a Sovereign God, so might I suggest you get as close to God as you possibly can, trust Him to get you through the storm, and wait for His blessings on the other side. After all, He is God, you know!

Perhaps your challenge now is not to question God any longer, but to place your faith deeper than ever in His ability to provide for you through this trial! He can, you know...because He is God!
