I may not see in front of me, But I can see for miles around when I look over my shoulder, and Lord, it`s clear. You`ve brought me here, So faithful every step of the way. What can I do but follow you, For You are the Way, the Truth, the Life, And You`ve promised never to leave me, My Savior, my friend, From beginning to end.

I Am Found In You by Steven Curtis Chapman
Happy Valentine's Day
By: Ron Edmondson Friday, February 16, 2001
He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the LORD. Proverbs 18:22 NIV

Would you please forgive me? I allowed another Valentine's Day to go by without taking the opportunity to brag on my wife through this medium. Since she rarely signs on to the Internet, she seldom gets to read Mustard Seeds, but I want to honor her just the same.

I do know that when I found Cheryl, God was directing my path. We had both recently come through some difficult days. I was praying to the Lord for someone to provide me with company. I was passionately seeking the Lord and had sensed Him tell me to wait upon Him before I started dating again. Cheryl's name had been given to me by an aunt whose opinion I trusted completely. As soon as I sensed the Lord tell me it was okay, I called Cheryl and asked her to lunch. I never asked out another person and we were married a couple of years later. I knew it was God's will.

One of the things I like best about God is that He doesn't skimp on His gifts. If it is from God, it has to be good! When God chose me a wife, He knew exactly what He was doing. (duh, like that's a revelation!)

Cheryl is the consumate wife and mother. She loves to love, and all she wants in return is love. She never tires of spending time with her family. She doesn't complain about the monumental task of keeping her three men together. I have stated the fact before, but this ministry would not be possible if it were not for all she does without me around our house. She serves us from her heart. She is very protective of the boys and me. (And, I must admit, we do take all this for granted.)

Cheryl is very intelligent. She gets embarrassed, but I love to tell people that she was Valedictorian of her high school class. She works with me in our business, and she can usually figure things out so much quicker than me. I think she purposely waits to give the answer sometimes to keep from bruising my ego.

As the teacher of a large couples Sunday School class, I know that our class would not be a success without Cheryl's involvement. She is so dilligent in her ministry to the class. I have watched her mentor the young ladies and develop lasting friendships with them, setting the example of Christ for them, encouraging them to grow in their faith. In addition she teaches her own Bible studies and is active in the witnessing program of our church.

My wife is also a great daughter and daughter-in-law. She cares for her family. She is very dedicated to helping her parents and has remained respectful, seeking their help and opinions in her life. While many complain about their in-laws, my wife actually encourages me to do more with my parents. She loves them as if they were her own.

This past year my wife became a new mother. No, we didn't have another child, but we did get a puppy. She didn't want an inside dog, but after the consistent pleading of three "boys" (one of those is me), she agreed. Now I am so happy we got HER a dog. Our little dog is just another example of how deep is Cheryl's capacity for love.

I hope you didn't mind reading a little about my wife. It isn't Valentines Day anymore, but it is a day when I would like to share my love for her.

Perhaps the life applicable message of today's Mustard Seed is to look at your own life. Do you appreciate your wife, and do you show her in tangible ways? Do you, as a wife, strive each day to brighten your home and the lives of those who live there? Part of the Christian life is that we must develop God honoring homes that magnify the name of Jesus through everything that we do!

Thank you Cheryl for helping to do that in our home!
