I may not see in front of me, But I can see for miles around when I look over my shoulder, and Lord, it`s clear. You`ve brought me here, So faithful every step of the way. What can I do but follow you, For You are the Way, the Truth, the Life, And You`ve promised never to leave me, My Savior, my friend, From beginning to end.

I Am Found In You by Steven Curtis Chapman
Haggai Three
By: Ron Edmondson Wednesday, March 26, 2008
Then Haggai, the Lord's messenger, gave this message of the Lord to the people: "I am with you," declares the Lord. So the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of the whole remnant of the people. They came and began to work on the house of the Lord Almighty their God. Haggai 1:13-14 NIV

As we have discovered the last couple of days, the people of God had neglected God's temple while they built their own fortunes. Since Solomon's temple had been destroyed, the people had given up on building the kingdom of God and instead, selfishly focussed on their own interests. God was not happy.

God called the people back to know His will; that all mankind should call upon the name of the Lord and give Him the glory due His name. As we see today, God literally "stirred" the hearts of His people. The remanant among the Israelites, those whose hearts were fully devoted to God, renewed their commitment, and once again began to work on the temple of the Lord.

Is God stirring your heart today? Not with this devotional, but with the things that are happening in your life right now. You see, I really believe God is calling a remnant of His people to renew their relationship to Him. I believe, especially in these days, that God is preparing His people for Christ's return. I am convinced that God will settle for no less than hearts who are "sold out" to Him; not conformed to the image of this world, but transformed into new creations; ones whose lives are fully set on knowing Jesus as Lord.

Just as in the days of the great prophet Haggai, God still wants to rebuild His temple. Only today, His temple is within the hearts of His children.

He builds our "temple" one stone at a time. God slowly and sometimes painfully constructs a masterpiece with our life. Is it your desire to be among the "remnant of God's people"? As He stirs your heart, place your thoughts securely and completely upon Him, and watch as He molds His temple into the vessel He wants you to be.
