I may not see in front of me, But I can see for miles around when I look over my shoulder, and Lord, it`s clear. You`ve brought me here, So faithful every step of the way. What can I do but follow you, For You are the Way, the Truth, the Life, And You`ve promised never to leave me, My Savior, my friend, From beginning to end.

I Am Found In You by Steven Curtis Chapman
God Wrestling, Part 5
By: Ron Edmondson Friday, March 10, 2006
Jacob named the place Peniel--"face of God"--for he said, "I have seen God face to face, yet my life has been spared." The sun rose as he left Peniel, and he was limping because of his hip. Genesis 32:30-31 NLT

God does not wish for you all the pain that comes from choosing your own way. God wants to bless you. You don’t have to fight with God for His blessings; just surrender to Him and obey His will for your life.

Jacob walked away from that place with a most unusual story. He was the only one there that night and he developed a limp. How do you think he told the story? Jacob had finally realized his dependence on the God who had continued to bless him.

Are you depending on God?

God's desire for your life and mine is that we come to the place where stop walking in our own power and self-sufficiency and we come to the place where we are depending on Him for everything.

I like what pastor/writer John Piper says: "God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him." What are you wrestling with? God has a goal in mind.

No doubt God could have easily defeated Jacob but instead Jacob is blessed. With a touch of His finger He could have destroyed Jacob’s life, but He didn’t. His life is spared and he is blessed.

Jacob came to a point in his life, after this, where he realizes that the greatest things in life come from the blessings of Christ. You and I should do the same!
