I may not see in front of me, But I can see for miles around when I look over my shoulder, and Lord, it`s clear. You`ve brought me here, So faithful every step of the way. What can I do but follow you, For You are the Way, the Truth, the Life, And You`ve promised never to leave me, My Savior, my friend, From beginning to end.
I Am Found In You

Then Jesus said to him, "Get up! Pick up your mat and walk." At once the man was cured; he picked up his mat and walked. John 5:8-9 (NIV)
It is interesting to me that Jesus, the miracle worker, required something of the man who had been paralyzed. Jesus didn’t offer him a hand. He didn’t volunteer to pick up his mat.
Jesus gave the man something to do in order for the miracle to be fully realized in his life.
If you really, really want to get well. If you want to make significant changes in your life, to remove yourself from the paralyzing situation, God may require you to follow through on some of the commitments you have made. God may step in and perform a wonderful miracle in your life, completely restore your situation, and not require you to do a thing, but my experience tells me that God will leave you some responsibility in carrying out His blessing for your life.
I know couples who say they want a better marriage, but when it comes to doing the things that will actually help their marriage improve they aren’t willing to do them. If the plan of action for improvement calls for giving up a hobby, for example, such as golf on Saturday, so the couple can spend more time together, few will make the sacrifice. We want God to do a miracle in our lives, but we aren’t willing to do the sacrifices He requires.
I’m going to ask one more time, do you want to get well? Now, I’m going to ask you a deeper question. Are you willing to do whatever it takes to get well? Are you willing to make the necessary sacrifices in order to improve your life significantly?
I realize these are tough questions, but someone needs to ask them.
