I may not see in front of me, But I can see for miles around when I look over my shoulder, and Lord, it`s clear. You`ve brought me here, So faithful every step of the way. What can I do but follow you, For You are the Way, the Truth, the Life, And You`ve promised never to leave me, My Savior, my friend, From beginning to end.

I Am Found In You by Steven Curtis Chapman
Fruit of the Spirit, 7
By: Ron Edmondson Tuesday, January 29, 2002
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

Galatians 5:22-23 NIV

Faithfulness is found in those who are diligent in their walk with the Lord. It is a virtue of the fruit of the Spirit, which is so well needed in the church today. The statistic we have all heard is still true. Twenty percent of the people do eighty percent of the work in a church.

We love the cards and email my wife and I receive from our class, thanking us for our faithfulness. They compliment us for being true to the work of the Lord and for being a “good witness” for faithful service. (I’m not bragging, just making an illustration.) I have often wanted to say as Paul once said, “Go and do likewise!” I don’t know if I would have the same meaning as Paul intended, but what I mean is “Get busy yourself!” Don’t just compliment my faithfulness. Be found faithful yourself.

I get a mental picture of Heaven. It is not going to be simply a huge award ceremony for the 20% who were faithful. You aren’t going to hide in the background while others take the spotlight. You are going to have individual time alone with your Savior and Redeemer. God is going to call you by name. I don’t know how all that is going to occur, but I firmly believe that if you are a Christian (and even if you are not), you have a pre-determined appointment with God…on your own.

What are you going to say to Him when He asks what you have done for His Kingdom? No, we aren’t saved by works, but by faith, through grace alone, but the Bible indicates there will be an accounting of our works for reward. Will you and I hear those words “well done my good and ‘faithful’ servant”?

My mental picture of Heaven motivates me to get busy working for the Kingdom. Will you join me?
