I may not see in front of me, But I can see for miles around when I look over my shoulder, and Lord, it`s clear. You`ve brought me here, So faithful every step of the way. What can I do but follow you, For You are the Way, the Truth, the Life, And You`ve promised never to leave me, My Savior, my friend, From beginning to end.

I Am Found In You by Steven Curtis Chapman
Followship 1
By: Ron Edmondson Monday, August 25, 2008
The next day Jesus decided to leave for Galilee. Finding Philip, He said to him, "Follow me." John 1:43 NIV

When Jesus went to look for disciples, He said something to them which is a common theme throughout Scripture. I want to look at that theme this week. Jesus said, “Follow Me!” Throughout the history of mankind, God has been seeking people who will follow Him.

Notice in today’s verse that Jesus doesn’t tell Philip where he is going, He just tells Philip to follow. While I hope you will read the rest of the week’s Mustard Seeds, I want to go ahead and give you the truth I want us to learn this week. That’s the way Jesus wants us to follow Him today. Christ wants us to follow Him without knowing where!

As I look back over the last five years or so in ministry it is amazing some of the things God has led me to do. I could never have predicted where I would be or what I would be doing. I must be honest, I’m not sure I would have followed if I had known at the time some of the pain ministry would bring to my life or family.

I can tell you, however, that, without reservation, the best decision, really the only decision, I could have made for my life was to follow Jesus completely! It is incredible to joy that comes from faithfully following Christ!

This week, think about your followship. I’m not sure that’s a word, but if not, it should be! Think about how well you follow. Are you willing to follow without knowing where Christ is going to lead? Until you are willing, the assignments will not come!
