I may not see in front of me, But I can see for miles around when I look over my shoulder, and Lord, it`s clear. You`ve brought me here, So faithful every step of the way. What can I do but follow you, For You are the Way, the Truth, the Life, And You`ve promised never to leave me, My Savior, my friend, From beginning to end.

I Am Found In You by Steven Curtis Chapman
Five Stones, Part 3
By: Ron Edmondson Wednesday, January 11, 2006
"The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the strength of my salvation, and my stronghold, my high tower, my savior, the one who saves me from violence. 2 Samuel 22:2-3 NLT

David had one powerful weapon on his side. When he grabbed the five smooth stones to go fight Goliath he used the same weapon. As a shepherd, when he protected his sheep from the wild bears and lions, he used the same weapon. When he was running from Saul, the king who was trying to kill him, it was the same weapon that protected him. Every time he entered the battle, he used the same weapon. It wasn’t the rocks, it was the Rock! David had a keen awareness of his need to totally depend on God.

Do you have some fears in your life? Is there a “Goliath” you would like to obtain victory over? Maybe your Goliath is a person, a temptation, or an obstacle in your life? Have you tried and failed so many times to win over your enemy? Maybe you are using the wrong rock!

Why not call on God today, confess your fears. Tell Him you know you are limited, helpless without Him. Now ask Him to take over the struggle and begin to walk by faith. You’ll have to discipline yourself not to pick up the struggle again. Remember “the battle is the Lord’s.” (1 Samuel 17:47) Leave it there!
