When Jesus saw Nathanael approaching, He said of him, "Here is a true Israelite, in whom there is nothing false." "How do You know me? Nathanael asked. Jesus answered, "I saw you while you were still under the fig tree before Philip called you." John 1:47-48 NIV
When the spiritual eyes of someone are opened, and they see Jesus for the first time, the Kingdom of God is unveiled to them. Nathanael had an important question. He asked, “How did You know me?” It was a good question. As far as we know, the two had never met. Jesus knew Nathanael, not because they had a social relationship on earth, but because Jesus was with God when they knew Nathanael before he was in his mother’s womb. (Jer 1:5)
When you come to God through Jesus, you don’t have to fill God in on all that has happened to you in life. He’s already been watching you, before you were even born. God has numbered the hairs on your head and painted the color of your skin. (He likes variety, doesn’t He?) Jesus already knew Nathanael, and He already knows you.
Are you trusting today in the God who knows you? Have you completely surrendered your life to the One who is watching over your life? The Psalmist wrote, “O LORD, You have searched me
and You know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; You perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; You are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue You know it completely, O LORD.” (Psalm 139:1-4)
Praise God for knowing you and watching you!
