I may not see in front of me, But I can see for miles around when I look over my shoulder, and Lord, it`s clear. You`ve brought me here, So faithful every step of the way. What can I do but follow you, For You are the Way, the Truth, the Life, And You`ve promised never to leave me, My Savior, my friend, From beginning to end.

I Am Found In You by Steven Curtis Chapman
ESTEEM
By: Ron Edmondson Thursday, October 02, 1997
Declares the Lord: "This is the one I esteem: he who is humble and contrite in spirit, and trembles at my word." Isaiah 66:3

* Esteem: to hold in high regard. * Humble: marked by meekness or modesty. * Contrite: grieving for sin or short-comings. * Spirit: the vital essence of man * Trembles: to shake with fear or respect

...thought some definitions may be in order today. Have you ever pictured God holding you in esteem? God, the Maker and Creator of all things, holding you in high regards? What a thought!

God does love every one of His creations. "We are precious in His sight, red and yellow, black and white. Jesus loves the little children of the world." But, God holds some of us in high esteem. Would you like to be in that group?

God says that this honor is given to those who are humble, contrite, and who tremble at His word. When you break it down it is really simple to understand. God is looking for those who respect and revere Him as God! Not as a god, but as God! He is seeking those who put HIM first! He is desiring that we take Him and His word serious; that we mourn over the sin in our life and that we have a personal goal to please Him! And, most importantly, all this must be done from deep within the core of who we are, our spirit. This is not head recognition, but heart acceptance.

Does God esteem you today? Does He hold you in high regards?

I hope so, because, maybe not today, but someday, the greatest desire of your heart will be to hear those words, "Well done my good and faithful servant."

These words are reserved for those He esteems!
