From Attalia they sailed back to Antioch, where they had been committed to the grace of God for the work they had now completed. Acts 14:26 NIV
What do you do because you are committed to the grace of God?
Paul and Barnabas were church planters. They went from place to place, as the Lord allowed, spreading the Good News of Jesus and helping to build churches. It wasn’t always easy. They faced persecutions and various trials, but they remained committed to the task, because of “the grace of God”.
The “grace of God” meant that they had the protection they needed from those who would betray them. It meant that God would give them words to say whenever they spoke on His behalf. It meant they could go whether God would lead them, because He had already prepared the way. It meant they did not operate from fear, but from God’s grace. The “grace of God” was His unmerited favor upon the lives of Paul and Barnabas. That grace had saved them and it was equipping them for ministry in Christ’s name.
What about you? Has God extended to you His grace for salvation? If so, are you now living within that grace for daily living? Are you committed to “the grace of God”, that wherever you are, whatever you do, you know that God is working all things together for an eventual good? That is what God’s grace is all about: giving us what we don’t deserve so that we can live full, productive Christian lives. It means we don’t live in fear, doubt or worry, because God’s grace is sufficient in our time of need.
I ask you once again to consider; are you committed to “the grace of God”?
