Therefore, let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity...Hebrews 6:1 NIV
Are you ready to grow in Christ?
I personally think Paul was the writer of the Bible book Hebrews. When he writes here that we should leave the elementary teachings about Christ, he is not saying there is anything wrong with elementary truths. Absolutely not! After all, it is the beginning knowledge upon which all other truth is based. When one goes to kindergarten or first grade they learn some basic facts that will be used to grow in knowledge for many years to come.
The elementary truths, such as faith in God, repentence from sins, baptism are all essential truths. Without faith in God there is no Creation, and without repentence of sin there is no salvation. No, what Paul was saying was that we need to set our goals beyond these important truths. We certainly don't want our children to never learn beyond elementary school, do we?
Paul, if we assume he wrote Hebrews, was encouraging us to grow deeper in our knowledge of God. He was stating his goal in life, which was "to know Christ" (Philippians 3:10). He was encouraging us to yearn for a fuller passion to know the Living God.
Is that your goal? Is your desire to allow God to build your faith; strengthen your Biblical wisdom; spread your wings to be able to soar to ever greater heights in your relationship to Him? Why not tell express that to God today!
Let us leave the elementary truths. Let us plant ourselves deep within the perfect will of God and experience God like we never have before!
