I may not see in front of me, But I can see for miles around when I look over my shoulder, and Lord, it`s clear. You`ve brought me here, So faithful every step of the way. What can I do but follow you, For You are the Way, the Truth, the Life, And You`ve promised never to leave me, My Savior, my friend, From beginning to end.
I Am Found In You

How useless to spread a net in full view of all the birds! Proverbs 1:17 NIV
Birds are too smart for that, are you?
If you are going to catch birds with a net, you don't won't them to see you laying out the net. If they do...you won't catch many birds.
In the Biblical days of Solomon, bird hunters would spread a net on the ground, baited with food for the birds. As the birds would fly down for dinner, the hunters would pull up the nest quickly, capturing many of the birds. Birds are smatter than you think, though. If they saw the hunters laying down the nets, they wouldn't land...and so they wouldn't be caught by the trap.
You and I are beginning another year. What it holds for us, we don't know. There will be stuggles, as well as triumphs, if this year is like all the previous ones. The progress we make in our spiritual life will be in large degree directly proportional to the amount of abiding we do in Christ.
One thing also is for sure, we will take on the characteristics of the places we go, the people we hang around, and the thoughts we place in our minds. You and I are much a product of our environment!
Which brings me back to those birds. See, they were smart enough not to get tangled in a "known" trap! The question of the day is this: Are you and I that smart? We know those things, places and people that cause us to sin; that keep us from being more like Jesus.....
...so are we smart enough to avoid the trap?
This year, lets watch for those nets of sin that are already laying on the ground!
