I may not see in front of me, But I can see for miles around when I look over my shoulder, and Lord, it`s clear. You`ve brought me here, So faithful every step of the way. What can I do but follow you, For You are the Way, the Truth, the Life, And You`ve promised never to leave me, My Savior, my friend, From beginning to end.

Storm Story, Part 5
A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped.
Mark 4:37 NIV
Furious: Violent anger or dissatisfaction.
Squall: Violent, sudden storm.
Furious Squall: Violent, violent, sudden storm.
Ever heard of over-kill? This is a double usage of the word violent. This sea was an area prone to violent and sudden
Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke Him and said to Him, "Teacher, don't you care if we drown?" Mark 4:38 NIV
To fully understand the truth of this verse you have to know and believe that Jesus was fully man and fully God. Being fully God meant that Jesus knew the storm was coming. Being fully man meant that Jesus
He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, "Quiet! Be still!" Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. Mark 4:39 NIV
In the margin of my Bible I always like to write the word "Duh" beside this verse. When Jesus speaks peace into a storm, the winds die down and it is completely calm. Everyone knows that! Don't they?
He said to His disciples, "Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?" Mark 4:40 NIV
In the Mark account of the storm calming that we have been studying Jesus implies that the disciples have "no" faith. In the Matthew account of this story, Jesus said, "you of little' faith". In the Luke passage He asked, "Where is your faith?" I did a
They were terrified and asked each other, "Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey Him!"
Mark 4:41 NIV
Who is this? When God calms your storm, you'll be asking the same question. God is still amazing people today! The disciples had a life-changing encounter with the Living God and they would never be the same.
On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. John 14:20 NIV
We are going to be looking at this one verse for the whole week. Each day we will look at a particular phrase in the verse. My prayer is that we will learn more about our relationship to Christ through this great verse.
On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. John 14:20 NIV
Today we look at the phrase "you will realize". Other versions may say "you shall know". The phrase literally means "to understand correctly and completely". It means that you have no doubts. The matter is settled, because you have fully
On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. John 14:20 NIV
Jesus told His disciples "I am in my Father". Dear friends, there is no greater truth than the truth of the Trinity. Three persons: God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit. Three persons, but one God. I don't fully understand that
On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. John 14:20 NIV
"...and you are in me"... Okay, yesterday we talked about the trinity, but today we talk about another fascinating, yet sometimes confusing subject. We are in Christ Jesus, if we are a child of God. That phrase "In Christ" appears 89 times in
On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. John 14:20 NIV
Perhaps the greatest truth, but yet the least understood, that we have seen this week is this last phrase in this powerful verse: "and I am in you". If you are a child of God, Jesus lives within you! Dear Christian, that ought to be enough
The next day Jesus decided to leave for Galilee. Finding Philip, He said to him, "Follow Me." John 1:43 NIV
There are two important principles in today's Scripture verse that I want to consider. First, Jesus found Philip. Philip didn't have to go looking for salvation; the Savior found him. Praise God that you don't have to go looking for Jesus.
Philip, like Andrew and Peter, was from the town of Bethsaida. Philip found Nathanael and told him, "We have found the One Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote-Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph." John 1:44-45 NIV
After Jesus found Philip, Philip found Nathanael. That is still God's plan today. Jesus finds us,
"Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?" Nathanael asked. "Come and see," said Philip. John 1:46 NIV
Nathanael wasn't degrading the city of Nazareth. It was simply that Nazareth was a small town and one wouldn't have expected such great news as a Messiah to come from there. It seems impossible for an obscure town to produce such an
When Jesus saw Nathanael approaching, He said of him, "Here is a true Israelite, in whom there is nothing false." "How do You know me? Nathanael asked. Jesus answered, "I saw you while you were still under the fig tree before Philip called you." John 1:47-48 NIV
When the spiritual eyes of someone are opened, and they see Jesus for the first time,
Then Nathanael declared, "Rabbi, You are the Son of God; You are the King of Israel." John 1:49 NIV
There is no greater discovery in life than discovering that God is God. Men are still trying to figure out the planet Mars, with new discoveries just this year, but even if they had every answer about that planet and all the others, man would still
For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by Him we cry, "Abba, Father." Romans 8:15 NIV
My son recently had a spiritual discussion with a girl at school. The girl didn't agree with some of the beliefs we have about God and His Word. That's okay, but there was one thing she
No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. Hebrews 12:11 NIV
"This is the coolest hat I've ever had!"
That was the comment my son made recently. You would have to see the hat to clearly understand, but it has to be the ugliest
But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts. Romans 13:14 NKJV
Today we look at the second phrase in this powerful, life-changing verse: "and make no provision for the flesh". Your flesh is the old habits and ways you have developed over your life to meet your God-given needs for love and
But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts. Romans 13:14 NKJV
Finally, by God's grace, we look today at the last phrase in this verse. When we "put on the Lord Jesus Christ", and we "make no provision for the flesh", we will not "fulfill its lusts." Who's lust? The lust of the flesh.
