I may not see in front of me, But I can see for miles around when I look over my shoulder, and Lord, it`s clear. You`ve brought me here, So faithful every step of the way. What can I do but follow you, For You are the Way, the Truth, the Life, And You`ve promised never to leave me, My Savior, my friend, From beginning to end.

Idols, Part 1
"You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below." Exodus 20:4 NIV
God's Word is clear that idols come between us and our relationship to Him. This week we will look at exactly what that means and how it affects our daily lives.
He took what they handed him and made it into an idol cast in the shape of a calf, fashioning it with a tool. Then they said, "These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt." Exodus 32:4 NIV
Oh yea! Was it really?
Moses had gone to the mountain of God to receive God's law for the people. In the middle of this glorious occasion,
"Those who cling to worthless idols forfeit the grace that could be theirs." Jonah 2:8 NIV
We have identified what idols are this week. In the four part definition shared earlier this week, the last one was "something visible but without substance". Think about this definition for a moment. Do you remember what Scripture gives us as a definition
Dear children, keep yourselves from idols. 1 John 5:21 NIV
This week we have looked at idols that may be in our life. We have defined them, discussed them, illustrated them, and seen that when they are in our life, we miss the best God has for us. John, the great apostle of Jesus Christ, the "one whom Jesus loved", must have understood these
Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Delight yourself in the LORD and He will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:3-4 NIV
We will use the same text all week. God has impressed upon my heart that we really like to focus on these two verses. It is not the first part of the verses, however, that we enjoy.
Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Delight yourself in the LORD and He will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:3-4 NIV
Today we look at the second part of our quest to discover how God gives us the desires of our heart. Yesterday we saw that we must "trust in the Lord". Today the verse tells us to
Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Delight yourself in the LORD and He will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:3-4 NIV
Now that we are trusting in the Lord and doing good, our focus verse tells us to "dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture." Immediately this makes me think of the shepherd David
Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Delight yourself in the LORD and He will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:3-4 NIV
Let's review: if we want God to grant us the desires of our heart, we need to 1. Trust in the Lord; 2. Do good; 3. Dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasturetoday's topic.
Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Delight yourself in the LORD and He will give you the desires of your heart.
Psalm 37:3-4 NIV
Today we get to the final part of our two verse series. Today we see that God gives us the desires of our heart. I really believe this verse is a promise. As we trust in the Lord,
When He had finished praying, Jesus left with His disciples and crossed the Kidron Valley. On the other side there was an olive grove, and He and His disciples went into it. Now Judas, who betrayed Him, knew the place, because Jesus had often met there with His disciples. So Judas came to the grove, guiding a detachment of soldiers and some

"Have you not heard? Long ago I ordained it. In days of old I planned it; now I have brought it to pass..." 2 Kings 19:25 NIV
I think we often forget that God had plans for our lives long before they ever occur. When we are so busy with life and especially when the pressures of life surround us, we sometimes feel that God is unjust or unkind for
"But I know where you stay and when you come and go" 2 Kings 19:27 NIV
God knows your name! He knows the number of hairs on your head. He's watching over you right now. He doesn't take a break. Sometimes the seasons of life make us feel isolated from God, but we need to remember than these are just feelings, they are not based on reality. God has
Because you rage against me and your insolence has reached my ears, I will put my hook in your nose and my bit in your mouth, and I will make you return by the way you came.' 2 Kings 19:28 NIV
The people had rebelled against God and God was not happy about it. Can you tell?
We sometimes need to be retold that sin has consequences. God does not
Once more a remnant of the house of Judah will take root below and bear fruit above. 2 Kings 19:30 NIV
Praise God for His remnant! Throughout the Scriptures there is a group of people that I have admired. The members of the group change the same, but the focus of the group remains. They are almost like a club, tightly wound by their huge
The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this. 2 Kings 19:31b
This week we have been looking at selected verses in 2 Kings chapter 19. We have seen that God knows and care for us, that sin does have consequences, and that there has always been a remnant of God's people who are fully committed to doing His will. When the Lord made His remarks
